A WestJet flight en route from Vancouver to Ottawa has been diverted to Thunder Bay because of a security incident.
The airline says it received a threat against flight WS142, which flew out of Vancouver just after 4 pm, and diverted at the request of Transport Canada.
WestJet says the plane landed, and all passengers have safely disembarked. It says and authorities determined the threat to be “non-specific and non-credible.”
The company says it is now following the lead of law enforcement.
Executive Officer Chris Adams with Thunder Bay Police,
“The RCMP received information about a possible explosive on board the aircraft, and as a precaution the aircraft was diverted from its path to Thunder Bay.”
Adams says all passengers and crew are safe and will be interviewed.
